Beginning July 5th through August 15th, the FANN Committee is sponsoring a “green initiative” in the form of a textiles collection service. The FANN Committee will work with Clothes for the Cause, which is a company that collects unwanted textiles (as listed below) and these items are then re-worn, reused or recycled, keeping items out of landfills! Recycled items are turned into insulation, wiping rags or are broken down to reclaimed fiber. 98% of all clothes and shoes can be recycled!
Here’s how it works:
Donate ALL household textiles--IN ANY CONDITION—such as paired shoes, towels, gloves and hats, sheets, blankets, quilts, bedspreads, drapes, purses and belts, stuffed animals, or clothes of any kind.
DO NOT donate glass, breakables, electronics, pet beds, bed pillows, uniforms, carpeting, hotel linens or items previously for sale at a thrift store.
Put into plastic bags, as the textiles must be kept dry.
Talk with friends and neighbors and encourage them to participate.
Drop off the bags at church (there will be collection baskets in the narthex) before August 15th or arrange for pick up by calling the church office and someone will get back to you to schedule a convenient date and time.
